Strategy, Incubation, And The Reason Most Entrepreneurs Need A Silence Bath.

photo credit – from moon to moon
When I saw author of “Eat,Pray,Love” Elizabeth Gilbert speak this spring she said “every afternoon I take a silence bath” in which she basically just sits in a room quietly and hangs out with her cat or falls asleep.  “Rough life” I thought “must be nice to be an author with a gazillion readers so that you can take silence baths every day”.  Sometimes I don’t even get to take a real bath every day and  the only silence I get is after …

A Creative Person You Should Know About: Street Artist Vhils.

Wow. Portuguese street artist Vhils makes this incredible art by digging into plaster and brick and they are so scarily realistic. Now, the marketer in me is immediately thinking “why isn’t anyone sponsoring this guy?” followed immediately by… “who would be the ideal sponsor?”  Converse sponsored that tattoo artist from Mexico which was a pretty bold / great move.

Kelly Cutrone is sort of my hero.  First of all, there aren’t many female business owners out there that I want to be like.  I mean, it’s not really possible for me to be a Martha Stewart (not crafty enough) or a Kelly Ripa (I’m too grouchy).  I need someone a bit more…. imperfect to look up to.

Entrepreneur Soundtrack – Aloe Blacc: I Need A Dolla.

This song is also on the HBO series “How to make it in America” show featuring Kid Cudi.  Brooklyn introduced it to me at SXSW and we literally watched all available episodes….. at once.  If you haven’t gotten a chance to catch the show it’s about 2 guys trying to start a jeans line in New York knowing nothing about jeans.  It’s a must see for all entrepreneurs and wanna-be’s.  Click the rest of the post to listen.

A Post In Which I Buy Things And Pretend Charles Bukowski Would Have Been OK With It.

“I wanted the whole world or nothing.”  Charles Bukowski
Charles Bukowski is really one of my favorites so it’s him that I’m dedicating my most recent non-zen week to.  I have tried to be more simple, I did the right things, I read Zen Habits and Mnmlst all winter.  I pared down, spent less, saved (sort of…), said no at Anthropologie, Sephora, and Pier One.  I was a living simply, non buying, zen machine.
Then I looked at my bedspread a few weeks ago and saw that it was kind …
