Caitlin,
the Mr Clean and Tide experiments were started almost 6 years ago. Pre-Social media era. The rationale behind them was "what other ways can we extend the monetization of our brands" Mr. Clean had already expanded into dozens of cleaning products, including at home car wash products. There was an article about this in fastcompany 5 years ago. So I don't think the main intent of things like Mr.Clean Car washes were anything other than brand extension and money making. Social media is just a happy coincidence and extension of said efforts.

Lots of brands do seasonal pop-up stores to promote their new lineup. NY happens to get a lot of them.

This contest is a lot of fun, and having the Selby be a part of it and the social networking component, made it intriguing and scary. But we entered it and are excited by the opportunity have our space in the running. Please take a look at http://www.theselbycontest.com/entry/77286 and click to vote and support. Our loft is in an old German church in Chicago that was built in 1888, and it's been fun trying to channel our creativity in it.

I painted two accent walls in my first apartment two subtle different shades of Lime Green So worth not getting my deposit back over. He wasn't going ot give it back to me anyway...my old landlord was a "prick" or I would have stayed in this place I loved it...other than the mouse he refused to catch or the washer that leaked..but decor wise LOVED the Green

Ha I like this idea. Except that we are going to have to use scientific notation to show how many orders of magnitude better than me are people like The Selby.

So for instance the Selby would be 6.7E23 more creative than me.

Royce - 480x more creative than you? I think we should make a site where you put in someone's blog or name and it tells you how many times more creative than you that person is - ha!
example:
The Selby is 600x more creative than me.
I am 200x more creative than most email marketers.

I'm gonna be honest, I kind of have no idea what any of this is about, but I still liked browsing the gallery of the work spaces. There is some pretty cool stuff going on out there. Although it's a little disheartening cause every single person in the contest is at least 480x more creative than me.
