Friday Funrise

16 July 2010 No Comment

So last weekend was cabin weekend – I can’t wait to show you the post on the full trip.  Let’s just say that I have some deficiencies in the “lawn games” department and I ate chicken gizzards ( yes you read that right).  Anyway, this weekend I’m looking forward to  long brunch, shopping with my sister (we always get a huge bag of sour patch kids) and of course the farmer’s market.

Pavel Sidorenko makes these crazy recycled record clocks – at $30 you can actually get one!

The Life Box makes cardboard shipping boxes with seeds in the material so when you throw them out, they grow!

If you’re an entrepreneur and wondering how to price yourself, this post about making yourself the “$30 Salad” is a good read.

I’m always looking for art that isn’t super pricey – London designer Simon Hasan made 400 unique bowls out of leather and is selling them out of a vending machine.

Situations in which you must whip it:

I don’t know why I keep finding boxed and canned drinks this summer but I found another one – El Jimador’s Paloma in a can (it’s like grapefruit juice and tequila and sprite).  Not bad.

Want to have a whole career in a large advertising agency in about 20 minutes?  New Facebook game PowerBrands lets you “get hired” at an agency and then work your way up.  Agency folks – is this game realistic?  Along the same lines is advertising the cost of being boring?  Interesting read.

Vitamin Water has hooked up with Lip Smackers to release a whole line of chapsticks flavored after the drinks.  Walgreens.

Is Janelle Monae the new Bowie?  (Thanks Blake!)  I am just loving this girl’s style.  I want to rock that outfit.
