Friday Funrise!
This week we’ve been having some insane tornado-ish weather here so it’s been wonderful to watch. On the other hand, we’re looking for a new place to live (not fun), I’m trying to set up an office space (for my future new place that I haven’t found yet), and seriously haven’t been grocery shopping in 2 weeks (sad).
My new office isn’t going to have a desk, I’m going to use a drafting table like this one.
Great “know it all” pencil set – $10 Don’t you still love pencils?
The Ford Fiesta can tweet! It’s kind of funny, he tweets that he’s joyful and where he’s going but I wonder if people will really follow this?
Check out Spacecraft in Brooklyn, it’s a place for people who like to make things to come to “summer camp”. They sell tons of supplies and have cool classes for free as well. If you’re in Madison, our version is Anthology (where I spent an obnoxious amount of time last week and came out with some great stamps).
I hear that coffee lovers can now buy Dark Matter coffee online from Star Lounge Coffee in Chicago. Must. Stop. Buying. Coffee. Online.
If you ever wanted David Lynch Roman Coppola, or Fred Seibert to see your video you’re in luck – Vimeo is hosting the first ever Video Film Festival. This looks so cool!

William Zinsser on writing -
“Many younger writers have taken me as a mentor, and when they come to New York they drop in for a checkup. Far too often I find them dispirited and professionally adrift, worn down by the glacial machinery of trying to get published: waiting for the phone call that doesn’t get returned and for the check that isn’t in the mail and for the decision on a manuscript that the publisher can’t find (“I’ve been traveling a lot lately and I guess it got put in the wrong pile”), revising their article yet again for yet another editor who knows a great angle to satisfy the “marketing people,” as did the two previous editors, now gone to other jobs without letting their authors know.” read the rest of the article….

Brian is from Wisconsin and just moved to New York. He’s got a rad project called “Dating Brian” where people are helping him with his dating life on the site. It’s well designed and worth a look for marketers. I’m thinking some brand could easily get in on this.

The quote from Zinsser and the Dating Brian site are genius. Especially the Dating Brian site. That guy is a freaking genius.
